WV5848 : Fisherman's Chapel, St Brelade

Fisherman's Chapel, St Brelade
The proper name of this chapel is La Chapelle-ès-Pêcheurs, and it was originally thought to be associated with the fishing guilds existing in the Island, although it has been suggested that rather than "pêcheurs" (fishermen) the name is more probably a corruption of "pécheurs" (sinners). The chapel dates from the 11th century on the site of an even earlier chapel, and pre-dates the church next door. The interior includes some remarkable 14th century frescoes.
