WA5507 : Fort Clonque

Fort Clonque
Fort Clonque
The 19th century Fort Clonque was constructed at a time when French naval power was a threat to the island. Built on a rocky outcrop of land, it is joined to the Alderney by a tidal causeway. It was manned by 50 men and fortified with up to 10 guns, mostly 68-pounders, however none was ever fired in anger.
