WV6448 : The Freedom Tree

The Freedom Tree
The Freedom Tree
The sculpture by Richard Perry was unveiled by Queen Elizabeth II on Liberation Day 2005.
It is over 6m high and consists of about 8 tonnes of bronze, plaster and steel armature.

"Everyday folk gave their lives for general issues of hope and freedom.
May the place of the future have peace."

The words of the Freedom Tree Poem by local poet Linda Rose Parker are engraved into jersey granite around the base of the sculpture.
