WV6447 : La Collette Power Station St Helier

La Collette Power Station St Helier
This was Jersey's main power supply until undersea cables from France were commissioned. However problems with the cables led to the power station once again becoming essential and new plant has been installed. The station dates from 1965 when it operated Mirrlees diesel engines and Parsons steam turbines. It is currently capable of 200 MW and the operable plant is: - 4 x 11 MW Sulzer 16ZA40S diesel engines (the latest two commissioned in 2012, 2 x 30 MW Parsons steam turbines (1966 & 1973), 1 x 45 MW Parsoms steam turbine (1993), 1 X 30 MW Rolls Royce Olympus gas turbine. This would be a good site for a visit. Alongside (and built since my picture) is a new energy from waste (EfW) plant.
