Pillar box, Union Street, St Peter Port, Guernsey
As an experiment, the novelist Anthony Trollope, then a Post Office Surveyor, erected the very first postboxes in the Channel Islands in November 1852: this box is still in use today in St Peter Port, Guernsey.
